Social Skills Groups

Our social skills groups provide children with autism opportunities to practice social interactions in a structured, supportive environment. Groups are organized by age and skill level to ensure appropriate peer interactions.

Program Structure

• Preschool Groups (3-5 years): Focus on basic social skills like sharing, turn-taking, and play skills
• Elementary Groups (6-10 years): Develop conversation skills, friendship skills, and emotional regulation
• Middle School Groups (11-14 years): Navigate complex social situations, peer pressure, and social problem-solving
• High School Groups (15-18 years): Prepare for adult social situations, workplace interactions, and independence

Skills We Target

Our social skills curriculum addresses:

• Conversation Skills: Starting, maintaining, and ending conversations appropriately
• Nonverbal Communication: Reading facial expressions, body language, and social cues
• Emotional Recognition: Understanding and expressing emotions effectively
• Friendship Skills: Making friends, maintaining relationships, and resolving conflicts
• Problem-Solving: Handling social challenges and unexpected situations

Evidence-Based Methods

We use proven approaches including:

• Social Stories and video modeling
• Peer-mediated interventions
• Role-playing and practice scenarios
• Group games and structured activities
• Real-world community practice opportunities

Family Involvement

Parents receive regular updates on their child's progress and learn strategies to support social skill development at home and in community settings. We also provide guidance on facilitating playdates and social opportunities outside of therapy.

Locations and Scheduling

Social skills groups are offered at both our Alpharetta and Duluth locations, with various time slots available to accommodate school schedules. Groups typically meet weekly for 8-12 week sessions.
